Paul, JD'72; and Richard S. Rhodes, LLB'53.

IU Alumni Association launches new website -- and online community

The Indiana University Alumni Association has a brand-new website. Central to the site is the Spirit of IU, an interactive, online game that allows users to share their IU experiences through photo communities, groups and even contests. George P. Smith II named inaugural CLEAR Health fellow

The Indiana University Center for Law, Ethics and Applied Research in Health Information announced today (June 2) the appointment of George P. Smith II as its first visiting fellow. Smith, a professor at the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, is an internationally recognized scholar whose work focuses on the intersection of law and health care, specifically bioethics and health law.   Full Story »

Judge donates Supreme Court memorabilia to IU Maurer School of Law

Judge Ezra "Zeke" Friedlander has spent more than a decade combing through auction lists searching for memorabilia from the United States Supreme Court. After years of pursuing his collecting passion, Friedlander has donated his sizable collection to the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, which is displaying most of the items in its nationally recognized Law Library. The framed collection includes signatures of U.S. Supreme Court justices, a pleading by Justice John Marshall dating from 1785, and a letter written by Justice William O. Douglas to an official at Indiana State University.   Full Story »

Three honored with Law School's Distinguished Service Award

Patent law conference will reflect on 'Claim Scope'

Many of the country's top intellectual property scholars and practitioners are expected to convene at the IU Maurer School of Law on Sept. 23-24 for a major conference on patent law. The conference coincides with the 20th anniversary of the publication of "On the Complex Economics of Patent Scope," a seminal work in the field of patent law by Robert P. Merges and Richard R. Law students, alum honored for pro bono service

Indiana University's Maurer School of Law today (Sept. 8) honored two current students and a recent alumnus for their commitment and dedication to pro bono work. Alex Haugh, JD'10, third-year student Gina Venturelli, and second-year student Rachael Steller were all presented with the Access to Justice Program's Pro Bono Award during a ceremony at the law school. Law students donate 125 hours to tax filing assistance

Students from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law helped local low-income residents file 54 tax returns this spring, resulting in thousands of dollars of refunds. The students, participating in the law school's inaugural Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, volunteered a total of 125 hours during the tax season.   Full Story »

Federal, state judges will preside over DNA case at law school

A panel of distinguished jurists, including the Chief Justice of Indiana and one of the state's four appointees to the U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago, will visit the Indiana University Maurer School of Law on Friday (Feb. 26) at 7 p.m. to hear arguments on an issue at the forefront of debate over technology, privacy rights, and law enforcement: the constitutionality of collecting and storing DNA evidence from those arrested on certain federal charges.   Full Story »
